BIOGRAPHY

Mike (Big Mike) Antoine

Mike Antoine has been involved in Trinidad and Tobago culture and Carnival for many years. As a youth in the 1970's, he was not only an avid masquerader playing Fancy Sailor with Bands such as Catelli All Stars, Third World Steel Orchestra and Nestle Ambassadors, he also "beat pan" with Blue Diamonds and performed in the Prime Minister's Best Village Competition. In the 1980's, Mike organised a series of cultural and talent shows throughout Trinidad and Tobago, scouting young artistes and providing a forum for these youths to showcase their talent. He quickly became a well-known promoter, responsible for a number of popular events.

Having made a number of forays into the Mas, playing King of the Bands in 1994 and conceptualising his own Section and J'Ouvert Band, Big Mike fulfilled his vision when he co-founded the Band Legends in 1995. Five-time Band of the Year winner and the holder of many other titles, Legends' success speaks for itself. As Head of Production and Designer of Legends' winning portrayals, not only in T&T, but also in New York, Boston, Long Island, Miami, Texas, London, Barbados, St. Martin, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Grenada and Antigua, Big Mike has been a driving force in the Mas arena. He was also solely responsible for Legends' much anticipated Opening Presentations and played an integral role in Marketing and Public Relations for the Band. Big Mike continues his work in the culture and Carnival with LEGACY.

Juliet de la Bastide

Holder of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business with minors in French and Spanish, Juliet de la Bastide comes with 11 years experience in the Banking Industry, having held managerial posts in the Corporate and International Banking Division at the former Royal Bank of Trinidad & Tobago, now RBTT Bank.

In 2002, Juliet left the Bank to dedicate herself full-time to Legends Carnival Band. However, her involvement in the world of entertainment and culture began over 13 years ago when she began working with Big Mike in his promotions. Sharing Mike's vision to make a contribution to the culture, Juliet was a founding committee member of Legends. She played a major role in formulating and implementing administrative systems and marketing strategies for Legends Band and (from 2002) managed the day-to-day office and showroom operations at the Mas Camp. Juliet is a well-known masquerader, having played Queen of the Band for Legends in 1997, and appearing on stage each year thereafter in a series of stunning Individual costumes.

With a mutual love for the culture and for the art of entertaining people, these two individuals form a perfect mix of creative talent and managerial skills, knowledge and experience, drive and dedication needed to take the "LEGACY" forward. They are ably assisted by a number of skilled craftsmen and young professionals who share their love for the Carnival.
